SEA Digest: Indonesia's Edukita, Vietnam's Happynest raise seed funding

Indonesia’s Edukita has raised seed funding from Star Capital Investments and W Ventures, while Vietnam’s Happynest has bagged a seed round led by Touchstone Partners.

Star Capital, W Ventures invest in Edukita

Indonesian edtech startup Edukita has raised seed funding from Star Capital Investments and Japan-based W Ventures, according to its filings with Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

The filings show that the company will receive fresh equity funding in two tranches—$800,000 in the first tranche from the two investors and $500,000 from Star Capital in the second tranche. The company could raise another $200,000 from other investors.

The company is also issuing shares worth $1.3 million to SAFE holders, including 500 Southeast Asia, Evolve Capital Management, and Aldi Haryopratomo.

Edukita is an early-stage education technology company focusing on English language learning in Indonesia. Backed by 500 Global, Edukita closed its last funding round on November 14, 2022, according to Crunchbase.

Touchstone Partners leads Happynest’s funding

Vietnamese VC firm Touchstone Partners has led a $720,000 seed round in local social commerce housing platform Happynest, according to an announcement.

The investment will help Happynest grow its community and expand its product offerings.

The platform claims that it has the largest home and living community with 500,000-1,000,000 active monthly users, covering over 10,000 articles and 300,000 pictures of user-generated content around home ideas.

Touchstone Partners is an early-stage venture capital fund in Vietnam committed to investing in startups with the potential to create a major impact on people and the environment.
