Tokyo-based HR startup <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.mosquitone.co.jp/">Mosquitone</a>, which provides a cloud-based personnel assessment and target management platform called <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://okr.hrbrain.biz/" target="_blank">HRBrain</a>, has secured funding from Genesia Ventures and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/beenext" target="_blank">Beenext</a>.
The development was first <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://thebridge.jp/en/2017/01/hrbrain-seed-funding" target="_blank">reported</a> by The Bridge. According to Mosquitone CEO Hiroki Hori, the company had so far been funded internally, making this seed investment the first infusion of external capital.
Financial terms and details relating to the amount raised, payment date, and share ratio were not disclosed. Coinciding with the investment, Mosquitone will release the official version of HRBrain, which has been operating in a closed beta.
Established in March 2016,  Hori&#8217;s inspiration to launch Mosquitone originates from his experience managing the business department of media relations at TSE-listed CyberAgent, he became aware of the difficulties and inefficiencies originating from a large population of registered members using general tools (e.g. Excel) to manage target and evaluate their personnel.
Mosquitone participated in Recruit Holdings’ Tech Lab Paak accelerator in order to promote the development of their service and improved it through introductory tests corporations operating in Internet-related businesses.
Operating on the basis of refined usability in corporate management, the service provides a target management sheet for entering personal targets and a management screen for HR specialists or managers to evaluate. While suitable for Internet-based businesses, this has been difficult to extend to other industries.
Hori explained to The Bridge: &#8220;We’ve been able to categorise the methods of target management for each company into a number of patterns. Then we used this to draw up a goal sheet with 4 types for now (OKR, MBO,WCM=Will Can Must, 360 degree evaluation). From here on out we plan to increase this one by one every month. But, there are only about 10 types of such classifications.&#8221;
For now, the company&#8217;s&#8217; service is priced based on the number of users (employees) and is charged per person. The price changes depending on the total number and is in the range of 600 to 800 yen (about $5-$7) per person.
