China-based pork producer <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=cofco" target="_blank">Cofco Meat Holdings Ltd</a> revealed plans of raising up to $333 million via an initial public offering in Hong Kong.
Partly-owned by <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=KKR" target="_blank">KKR &amp; Co</a>, Cofco is offering 975.6 million shares at HK$2 to HK$2.65 apiece, the <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=bloomberg" target="_blank">Bloomberg</a> reported on Monday.
The biggest cornerstone investor in the offering so far is <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Haier+Group" target="_blank">Haier Group Corp</a> who agreed to buy $57.4 million of stock of the state-backed meat maker.
Bloomberg added other cornerstone investors in the Cofco Meat offering are China Life Insurance Co, and China Life Franklin Asset Management Co, who agreed to buy $20 million, and $10 million of shares, respectively.
Cofco Meat plans to price the offering on October 24 and trade on November 1. Joint sponsors of the deal are JPMorgan Chase &amp; Co, and Morgan Stanley.
Cofco Meat intends to use the proceeds to fund expansion. The Hong Kong listing was a similar strategy taken by Dali Foods Group Co, the maker of “Copico” brand potato chips, and seasoning producer Yihai International Holding Ltd to finance business expansions.
