Singapore-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.grab.com/id/" target="_blank">Grab</a> has launched a beta version of <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.grab.com/id/grabfood/" target="_blank">GrabFood</a>, a food delivery service, in Indonesia  to rival local ride-hailing app <a href="http://go-jek.com/" target="_blank">Go-Jek’</a>s <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.go-food.co.id" target="_blank">Go-Food</a>.
In an official announcement, Grab Indonesia said the latest service is currently only available in Jakarta’s central business district &#8211; Senayan, SBCD, Semanggi and Kuningan.
It will serve larger areas once the full version of GrabFood is released. Users will be charged a delivery fee of Rp20 thousand ($1.52) &#8211; though a current promotion cuts the delivery cost to Rp10 thousand ($0.76).
There is no minimum purchase requirement. Payments can be made in cash, but in the future, a cashless payment option will be added.
Group VP of Marketing Grab Cheryl Goh said, the company has partnered with the best restaurants in the city, such as Bottega, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.pepenerobali.com/" target="_blank">PEPeNERO</a>, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://cuthecrab.com/" target="_blank">Cut The Crab</a>, and Turkuaz.
“The service was launched so that our users can even get a richer experience in exploring the city’s gastronomy scene. Your food is guaranteed to reach your door while it’s hot because we have prepared a special thermal bag, custom- designed for this service,” said Goh, as quoted by local media.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Heightened competition</h3>
Competition in the on-demand transportation sector in the country seems to reach new heights, with Grab, Go-Jek and <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.uber.com/cities/jakarta/" target="_blank">Uber </a>trying to outdo each other.
Two weeks ago, Go-Jek launched a new service Go-Car just days after Uber launched motorcycle taxi service uberMOTOR. The Go-Car service was launched along with a new payment feature called Go-Pay. This feature will allow users to pay all Go-Jek services electronically.
Meanwhile, Uber is providing customers with payment options linked to credit card, debit card and cash, as the uberMOTOR service is integrated with the Uber application. The payment options have successfully differentiate Uber from its competitors.
