Indian drug maker <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Strides+Shasun" target="_blank">Strides Shasun</a> announced that it will acquire Swedish firm Moberg Pharma&#8217;s paediatric brand PediaCare for $5 million plus inventory value at closing.
The deal will be done through its wholly-owned subsidiary Strides Arcolab International Ltd, UK, the company said in a stock market disclosure.
PediaCare is a paediatric cough, cold and allergy brand with annual sales of about $6 million.
The acquisition will help the company to expand its consumer healthcare portfolio.
Bangalore-headquartered Strides Shasun has four business verticals- regulated markets, emerging markets, institutional business and active pharmaceutical ingredients, and has 13 manufacturing facilities.
In March, Strides had announced to buy three brands from Moberg Pharma for $10 million plus inventory value at closing.
From the last one year, the company has been actively selling and buying businesses. In August 2016, Strides <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/india-strides-shasun-hives-off-api-business-50880/" target="_blank">decided to hive off</a> its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) business into a subsidiary to give more focus.
In May, the company got its board&#8217;s approval for divestment of its contract research and manufacturing services and API unit, Shasun Pharma Solutions Ltd, UK, for an enterprise value of £25 million (Rs 240 crore). Prior to that, in February, Strides announced to buy 51 per cent stake in Australian pharmaceutical and research company Generic Partners Holdings Co. Pty Ltd and acquire a 51 per cent stake in Kenyan drugmaker Universal Corporation Ltd.
