In one of its biggest deals, Japanese BPO firm Outsourcing Inc has entered an agreement to acquire German staffing company Orizon Holding for an estimated 81.6 million euros (around $85.2 million).
The Japanese group, through its German subsidiary OSI Holding, will acquire 100 per cent interest in Orizon in a move to hedge its business operation amid a highly volatile market, it said, in a statement.
The closing of the transaction is expected to occur by June 2017, which will see an exit for private equity firm Silverfleet Capital Partners.
The BPO firm said it had been conventionally engaged in manufacturing outsourcing business and confronted volatility risks since the Lehman Bros collapse.
The company has therefore kickstarted a couple of medium-term management initiatives to scale globally into the sectors with less susceptibility of fluctuations, such as outsourcing business for convenience stores industry and the US military bases in Japan, while undertaking the public services contracted to the private sectors in Australia and the UK.
With the latest plan called &#8220;VISION 2020: Tackling New Frontiers&#8221;, the Tokyo-headquartered firm aims to grow in any other Lehman-class environmental change. The acquisition of Orizon is part of that strategy.
Orizon is the eighth largest staffing company in Germany with strengths in mechanical engineering, aviation and medical sectors.
“Orizon surpasses its peers in profitability and is expected to achieve ongoing growth,” Outsourcing said in the statement.
“This transaction provides the group with strong foothold to develop into the European industrial nations, including those in Eastern Europe,” it added.
The company had earlier strengthened its Europe footprint by acquiring British BPO business Liberata in a 43 million pound ($53.4 million) deal in August 2016.
