JustCo is launching a co-working space targeting corporates as it expands its footprint, while Singapore Medical Group has secured a strategic investor from South Korea.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">JustCo to launch workspace targeting corporates</h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.justcoglobal.com/" target="_blank">JustCo</a>, which claims to be Singapore’s largest co­working space, is launching a new co-working space at Marina One in May 2017, as well as an additional space UIC Building.
Its main branch is located at Robinson Road and Raffles Quay in the Central Business District. According to the firm, its leadership aims to become the largest co­working network in Singapore and the Asia Pacific, with more spaces launching in the near future. This includes spaces at Marina One and UIC Building in Singapore in May 2017.

Wan Sing Kong, founder and CEO of JustCo, comments: “Up to now we haven’t seen a coworking space in any of Singapore’s most elite buildings.  There are traditional and serviced office providers but nothing that combines a no. 1 business address with the fun and creative coworking style.”
But this latest addition to its footprint in Singapore will target corporates. According to Kong, many large corporates see a significant advantage in being connected to a community of startups and entrepreneurs, in addition to the benefits offered in terms of talent acquisition and retention.
Kong opines: “Coworking spaces are no longer just for startups, entrepreneurs and trendy agencies. High-end professionals, banks and consultancy firms are now interested in this attractive and engaging style of workspace. More straight-laced businesses like these see it as a way to attract and retain the best talent especially among millennials, impress clients and connect with potential clients and partners.”
“They want to be seen as being dynamic, embracing these new shifts and engaging with the local community. And like our other spaces JustCo at Marina One will still have a strong make up of start-ups and freelancers which means traditional employers can mix with young and cutting edge businesses,” he adds.
According to the Harvard Business Review, co-working spaces can <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://hbr.org/2015/05/why-people-thrive-in-coworking-spaces" target="_blank">provide a performance boost</a> compared to traditional officers. Additionally, it offers a way for large enterprises to manage their real estate costs, due to not needing to take on long-term leases and the flexibility to grow and expand various areas.
JustCo currently claims major clients such as DropBox, Japanese messaging app Line Corp and U.S. web security firm CloudFlare.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Singapore Medical Group secures strategic stake</h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreasia.com/tag/singapore-medical-group" target="_blank">Singapore Medical Group</a> (SMG), as specialist healthcare services provider, has secured a strategic investment from Korean healthcare group, CHA Medical Group. The firm is acquiring an 8.8 per cent stake in the enterprise that will see it subscribing for 30 million new SMG shares at 50 cents each or a 6 per cent discount to its last closing price.
A Friday note by Maybank analyst John Cheong highlights that CHA brand strength in South Korea as a leading expert in the fields of infertility, women’s health and maternity care will complement SMG&#8217;s complement of eight doctors in the O&amp;G segment following its acquisition of Astra Women’s specialist group.
The partnership will enable SMG to tap on CHA’s reputable obstetrics &amp; gynaecology (O&amp;G) specialisations, in addition to pursuing overseas expansion and excess cash for expansion. According to SMG, proceeds form the latest investment will be used to aggressively export growth opportunities.
SMG explains that 67 per cent of net proceeds will be used for M&amp;A, 20 per cent for expansion into other counties in Southeast Asia and 13 per cent for growing its existing business operations.  Together with the completion of Astra Women Specialist, the strategic placement will increase SMG’s market cap to S$224 million, based on 422 million shares at 53 cents each.
