Zeotap GmbH, a Bangalore and Berlin-based mobile data platform, has raised $12.8 million (12 million euros) in Series B round from <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=New+Science+Ventures" target="_blank">New Science Ventures</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=HERE" target="_blank">HERE</a>, the company said in a statement.
Existing investors Capnamic Ventures and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Iris+Capital" target="_blank">Iris Capital</a> also put in money in the latest round.
Zeotap will use the money for expanding its engineering and data science team in Bangalore as well as on business development, data on-boarding, data monetization and marketing in Berlin, New York, Madrid and Milan.
“Zeotap’s focus on bringing the best data assets together in one single platform is a unique opportunity for data owners and buyers alike. We are effectively escaping a world where companies have to manage the complex integration of a multitude of sources before they can draw any real value from data,” said Somu Subramaniam, managing partner of New Science Ventures.
US-based NSV is a New York-based venture fund which has $500 million under management and HERE, a leading global provider of mapping and location-based services backed by German automotive companies Audi, BMW and Daimler.
“I am impressed with the data ecosystem Zeotap has built in such a short period. Their speed of delivery is exciting and their solution comes at a time when many data owners are looking for the right partner,&#8221; said Edzard Overbeek, CEO of HERE.
Founded in September 2014 by Daniel Heer, Stephan Schwebe and Projjol Banerjea, Zeotap also raised angel funding from several strategic business angels including Seth Schuler, former SVP Strategy of T-Mobile US; Alex Pentland, professor at MIT, co-creator of the MIT Media Lab; Mark Grether, co-founder and former COO of Xaxis and Thomas Duhr, board member of IAB Europe.
In April 2015, Zeotap had secured $6.4 million in Series A funding from Capnamic Ventures, Iris Capital and other investors.The company has raised over $20 million so far including investment from angel investors.
Zeotap makes large-scale, deterministic data assets easily accessible to the digital advertising market and other industries for better decision making. It has offices in Berlin, New York and Bangalore with an additional presence in Madrid and Milan.
The company had launched a platform called Mozeo, a joint venture with Mumbai-based digital marketing firm Mogaé Media. Through the platform, advertisers can purchase media space on mobile platforms through real-time bidding, in India.
