Kasireddy will head a team of almost 400 local employees and will be responsible for the overall management and direction of the co-operative’s consumer brands operations in Indonesia.
He takes on the role from previous President Director Paul Richards who has relocated to Thailand to lead Fonterra’s branded operations across Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Myanmar.
Fonterra Managing Director Asia, Middle East and Africa Johan Priem says, Kasireddy has a deep understanding of the company’s business with significant experience in the global dairy industry and having been with Fonterra for more than 13 years.
“Achyut has held Fonterra leadership positions across multiple geographies, most recently heading up our branded business in Greater China. Achyut will provide strong direction to our Fonterra Brands Indonesia team as we look to continue building our presence in this important market,” said Priem.
Kasireddy said that Indonesia is one of Fonterra’s key global markets and He excited to be leading the operations in Indonesia.
“Indonesia’s large and increasingly affluent population is looking for highly nutritious foods for all ages, fuelling fast-paced dairy demand growth which is expected to increase by five per cent every year to 2020,” He stated.
Fonterra has opened first blending and packing facility in the country to help cater for the growing demand in the country. The Rp340 billion’s ($24.82 million) facility is Fonterra’s largest investment in South Asia in the last decade.
The factory is located in an Industrial Estate in Cikarang, West Java, occupying 6,500 square meters of land and produce 12,000 metric tons of high-nutrient powder milk each year starting March 2015.
The company said, over 87,000 packages of Anlene, Anmum and Anchor Boneeto can be produced every day from the factory.
Fonterra will import fresh milk from New Zealand to supply 70 percent of the raw materials for its plants while the rest will come from local suppliers.
The company’s business in Asia focuses on dairy ingredients, consumer brands, and foodservice.
According to the data from the I<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.kemenperin.go.id/">ndustry Ministry</a>, Indonesia’s average milk consumption is 11 kilograms per person per year, with about 80 percent of the milk being imported, primarily from New Zealand and Australia.
