<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.sanmiguel.com.ph">San Miguel Corp (SMC)</a> is investing up to $1 billion in its cement manufacturing business to fund five new cement plants in various parts of the Philippines.
The amount is an increase to the $800 million investment plan laid out last July with the inclusion of three new cement plants.
All five plants are expected to be completed in 2017 located in Bulacan, Pangasinan, Quezon, Cebu, and Davao, reports said.

San Miguel president and COO Ramon Ang informed the media that they aim to build a total of 10 million metric tons of cement with the five plants in two years.
Ang explained the time is ripe to spend on the cement business with the rising investments taking place in the local real estate industry.
The food-to-manufacturing conglomerate officially listed yesterday up to P35 billion of its newly issued preferred shares that went oversubscribed in last week&#8217;s offer.

Only last Thursday, San Miguel disclosed plans of developing two new power plants in Cebu and Panay island that would each produce 300 MW using clean coal technology.
The listed firm’s power unit SMC Global Power Corp is tasked to develop the two plants in the next three years with projected investments of up to $1.2 billion.
San Miguel&#8217;s last trading price decreased 1.73 per cent or P0.70 to close at P45.10.
