Inventure Partners is launching its second $150 million fund while international venture fund Target Global invests in food delivery startups.
<h3>Inventure launches second $150m fund</h3>
Investment firm <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=InVenture+Partners" target="_blank">InVenture Partners</a>, <a href="http://www.ewdn.com/2016/07/27/inventure-partners-launches-second-150-million-fund/" target="_blank">is launching</a> a second $150-million fund, raised from undisclosed limited partners with 10 per cent of the capital being contributed by the fund&#8217;s managing partners Sergey Azatyan and Anton Inshutin.
Similar to the first fund, InVenture Partners II will cover Israel, Russia, Germany and the UK and support consumer internet projects <a href="http://www.vedomosti.ru/finance/news/2016/07/19/649778-inventure-partners" target="_blank">according to Azatyan</a>.
The firm is invested in companies in consumer sectors such as marketplaces, financial technologies, marketing, transportation and online education.
InVenture Partners I previously invested $100 million in 14 companies including <a href="http://gett.com/nyc/" target="_blank">Gett</a>, the on-demand mobility company which it invested in back 2012.
Back in May, the firm acquired Fogg in a €7 million deal by GlobeTouch marking the first of a series of successful exits. InVenture also sold a part of its stake to Volkswagen in May in a move that generated, &#8220;dozens of million of US dollars,&#8221; according to Azatyan.
Then, in June,<a href="https://www.pehub.com/2016/06/3338528/" target="_blank"> the fund participated</a> in a €11 million Series C funding round for Switzerland-based Chronoext, an online luxury watch marketplace.
Telemedicine startup <a href="https://www.americanwell.com" target="_blank">American Well</a>, Russian retail analytics startup <a href="http://www.crowdsystems.com" target="_blank">CrowdSystems</a>, e-learning platform <a href="http://www.netologyllc.com" target="_blank">Netology</a>, mobile payment service<a href="http://www.2can.ru" target="_blank"> 2can</a> and Russo-Ukrainian bus-ticket software developer <a href="http://gillbuss.com" target="_blank">Gillbus</a> were all part of Inventure Partners I.
<h3>Target Global steps into the food delivery business</h3>
International venture capital firm <a href="http://www.targetglobal.vc" target="_blank">Target Global</a>, <a href="http://Domavkusnee.ru,%20Partiyaedi.ru and Elementaree.ru. The $1-million round was backed by individual investors including Florian Jansen and Niels Tonsen, co-founder of online clothing retailer <a href="http://www.lamoda.ru" target="_blank">Lamoda.ru</a>.
The startup, which was launched in March 2016, is speculated to be worth around 4-8 million and has already amassed partnerships with over 150 restaurants.
Foodfox&#8217;s largest competitor is Chefmarket.ru, <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/russia-digest-chefmarket-raises-1-3-million-in-funding-46437/" target="_blank">that just received</a> $1.3 million in seed funding from <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=+Mitsui" target="_blank">Mitsui </a>in early June. It currently stands as a dominant market player sharing approximately 50 per cent of the market share with three other players; <a href="http://domavkusnee.ru" target="_blank">Domavkusnee.ru</a>, <a href="http://partiyaedi.ru" target="_blank">Partiyaedi.ru </a>and <a href="http://www.main.elementaree.ru" target="_blank">Elementaree.ru.</a>
<a href="http://www.delivery-club.ru" target="_blank">Delivery Club</a>, the Moscow-Based online food ordering company, is also another force to be reckoned with. The Russian pioneer in the food sector was acquired by Foodpanda two years ago.
Target Global has been venturing into the food space over the past year. <a href="http://www.ewdn.com/2015/12/16/russian-investors-invest-more-than-13-million-in-us-grocery-delivery-service-blue-apron/" target="_blank">In December 2015,</a> Target Global spent 413 million to acquire a 0.65 per cent stake in US food delivery startup <a href="https://www.blueapron.com" target="_blank">Blue Apron</a>.
Target Global primary focus lies in fast-growing digital-enabled B2C and B2 SMB companies in e-Commerce, finTech, travel, software and mobile.
Target Ventures was launched in 2013 to invest in variety of segments in the digital consumer space. It also claims over 4300 million in assets under management and operates from its offices in San Francisco, Berlin and Moscow.
