US business process outsourcing (BPO) company <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.startek.com">Startek</a> has expanded operations in the Philippines, launching a modern facility pegged at over P400 million ($10 million).
Startek president and CEO Chad Carlson said the costs in building the new facility would go around $5,000 per seat and Startek targets to accommodate 2,000 employees.
He said Startek has grown its employees in the Philippines to 6,100 since it opened its first local facility in 2008.
Located within Frontera Verde, a 18.5 hectare development project in Pasig City, the new building is Startek&#8217;s fourth location in the Philippines. Its three other local sites are in the cities of Makati, Angeles, and Iloilo.
Overall, Startek now has 16 sites globally with 10 others in North America and two in Latin America. Its service offerings include, sales support, order processing, customer care and receivables management, back office, among others.
&#8220;The new Startek Frontera Verde site signals what the future holds for the company,&#8221; Carlson said. &#8220;We consider the Philippines one of our prime Startek global locations, and we are committed to investing the resources necessary to provide employees with an inviting, comfortable environment.&#8221;
Startek has made it a signature strategy to provide comprehensive workspaces, as the company&#8217;s VP of operations Tonichi Achura asserts that &#8220;workspace can create a positive impact on a person&#8217;s productivity.&#8221;
The latest site boasts functional, comfortable working space and modern meeting and huddle rooms. It also has recreational facilities such as themed pantry in all four floors, sleeping quarters, pocket garden, and a roof deck.
&#8220;What makes us different from other BPO companies is that we look for employees who want to feel a sense of belonging. For us, it is not just a job but a place where they can feel accepted,&#8221; Achura said.
