VC firms seeking an entry into the country have to set up a joint venture with local partners and have a minimum paid-up capital of $3.6 million to establish operations.
The top five funds—Sequoia Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz—parked most of their money in consumer Internet start-ups, followed by healthcare and financial technologies.
In 2015, Israel’s ecosystem saw 708 firms raise funds, with deals averaging $6.3 million, compared with 2014’s average of $5 million.
