Garment exporter Gokaldas Exports has invested in fashion-etailer Yepme UK, while Amazon Wholesale (India) received a $15 million fund infusion.
<h3>Gokaldas Exports invests in Yepme UK</h3>
VAS Data Services Pvt. Ltd, which runs fashion e-commerce firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/yepme" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Yepme.com</a>, has raised funding of an undisclosed amount from garment exporter <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/gokaldas-exports" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gokaldas Exports Ltd </a>(GEX).
According to a stock exchange filing, Gokaldas said its board has approved a small strategic investment in Yepme UK, which deals in fast fashion products exclusively for the international markets, especially the US, Europe and the Middle East.
&#8220;The initiative is expected to provide GEX exposure to digital sales channels, fast fashion design and procurement, online marketing tools etc,&#8221; it said.
It was reported earlier this month that Yepme had raised Rs 4.5 crore (around $700,000) in a bridge round of funding by issuing optionally convertible debentures to Kolkata-based Rainbow Digital Services and Noida-based ILearnFinance Academy.
<h3>Amazon Wholesale (India) gets $15m fund infusion</h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/amazon-india" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Amazon India</a>&#8216;s business-to-business arm, Amazon Wholesale (India), had received a capital infusion of Rs 100 crore ($15 million) in December 2016 from Amazon Corporate Holdings Singapore and Amazon.com Mauritius, said <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/money/amazon-wholesale-gets-rs-100-crore-top-up/articleshow/58782667.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a report</a> in The Economic Times.
According to the report, Amazon Wholesale received three tranches of investments in 2016, including Rs 115 crore in June and Rs 160 crore in September.
Set up in 2013, the wholesale retail arm owns and runs AmazonBusiness, which sells food and beverages, office supplies, FMCG goods and health and personal care products. AmazonBusiness.in is a members-only B2B website that has been specifically designed for businesses including small offices, entrepreneurs, department stores, kirana stores, drugstores, clinics, hospitals, hotels, and restaurants.
It also works as the marketing and distribution partner for smartphone brands such as Coolpad, Huawei, Honor, OnePlus and Xolo, which do not have offline distribution channels.
