Global private equity (PE) major <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=CVC+Capital+Partners" target="_blank">CVC Capital Partners</a> is launching its Indian office and has relocated its senior managing director Siddharth Patel to Mumbai from London.
The European PE firm is also hiring a senior executive from <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=General+Atlantic" target="_blank">General Atlantic</a>, according to an Economic Times <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/startups/former-f1-owner-cvc-capital-partners-set-to-open-india-office/57624710" target="_blank">report</a> citing sources.
CVC has over a $71 billion assets under management and is currently investing from its flagship funds CVC Fund V and CVC Fund VI and is also in the process of raising a $15-billion seventh fund. The PE firm raised its CVC Fund I in 1996, has since raised commitments of more than $85 billion for various PE equity and credit funds, according to the firm’s website.
CVC Capital Partners&#8217; spokesperson declined to comment anything on this development.
The other big buyout fund which opened India offices in the past are Apollo Global Management and KKR &amp; Co. From the Europe, Partners Group AG also entered the market in 2014. CVC would compete with both European and Americal players.
In 2016, CVC sold its motor sports business F-1 to Liberty Media in a $4.5-billion deal.
