Australia's Future Fund posts 3.4% negative return in Q1 amid virus outbreak

Australia’s sovereign wealth fund Future Fund, on Monday said it posted a negative return of 3.4 per cent for the quarter ending March 31, 2020. The fund said it will continue to prioritise portfolio flexibility in a bid to ensure that its portfolio is robust and has significant liquidity.

“In a quarter where the ASX 200 fell 23.1 per cent and the S&P 500 fell 19.7 per cent, the Future Fund recorded a negative return of 3.4 per cent meaning that for the financial year to date return was -0.2 per cent,” Future Fund Chairman Peter Costello said in a quarterly statement.
