International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private investment arm of the World Bank Group that has now become a strong player in the venture capital space, sees a growing number of investable opportunities in emerging Asian markets such as Myanmar and Indonesia, a top official at the firm told this portal.

IFC recently invested in several VCs in Southeast Asia, including seed-stage fund Wavemaker PartnersJungle Ventures and Jungle SeedPlus, and the firm will evaluate country-specific funds in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam as these markets mature, Pravan Malhotra, its venture capital lead for South and South East Asia and Asia internet investments, said in an interview. “Through these fund investments, we have indirectly invested in 19 companies in Indonesia alone, alongside our existing direct investments,” he added.
