SUGAR Cosmetics, a makeup brand popular amongst millennials, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Singapore-based venture capital firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=RB+Investments" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">RB Investments</a>, DEALSTREETASIA has learnt.
Mumbai-based Vellvette Lifestyle Pvt Ltd is the company behind the makeup brand SUGAR Cosmetics. It also owns and operates beauty subscription services FAB BAG. The company was founded in March 2012 by IIM Ahmedabad alumni Vineeta Singh and Kasuhik Mukherjee.
The size of the investment and other investors&#8217; participation could not be immediately ascertained. This is the company&#8217;s second external round of funding.
In February 2013, Vellvette Lifestyle had raised $500,000 from early-stage investor India Quotient and Mumbai-based angel investors Nitin Agarwal and Siddharth Ladsariya for building its technology platform.
Separate emails sent to RB Investments and existing investor India Quotient for more information did not elicit a response till the time of writing this article.
Vellvette Lifestyle offers hair, makeup, skincare, bath and body, and fragrance products. It earlier ran a subscription-based e-commerce platform for beauty products under the brand name Vellvette.
RB Investments – owned by Rashmi Bothra and her family, and managed by professional investors – provides early-stage funding to companies across India, Singapore, Indonesia, the US, the UK, Australia and Thailand.
Since January this year, it has invested in several Indian companies, including sportswear startup <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=ALCIS+Sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ALCIS Sports</a>, beer chain <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=The+Beer+Cafe" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Beer Cafe</a>, personal assistant app <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Tapzo" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tapzo</a>, fashion app <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Voonik" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Voonik</a> and online marketplace for discovering travel agents, <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=TravelTriangle" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TravelTriangle</a>.
