<p>Alternative investment manager <span style="color: #000080;"><strong><a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=hamilton+lane" target="_blank">Hamilton Lane Advisors</a></strong></span> has closed its ninth fund, to function as a global and diversified fund-of-funds, at $516 million.</p>

<p>Fund-of-funds typically invest in private equity and venture capital funds that in turn take stakes in major companies and startups respectively.</p>
<p>Hamilton Lane Private Equity Fund IX is the largest fund-of-funds ever raised by the firm, which had $250 billion in total assets under management and advisory as of March 31, 2016.</p>

<p>“We are thankful for the support of a diverse group of both new and existing Hamilton Lane investors from across the globe, including public pension funds, Taft-Hartley pension plans, endowments, foundations and other institutions,” said Jackie Rantanen, managing director and co-head of product management group at Hamilton Lane.</p>

<p>Fund IX plans to invest in small and mid-cap funds, and aims to provide investors with a portfolio of private market investments by diversifying across primaries, secondaries and co-investments.</p>
<p>It will also identify managers capable of creating and driving value through operational improvements at the level of portfolio companies.</p>
<p>In June, the firm closed a fresh credit fund — Hamilton Lane Strategic Opportunities Fund 2016 — with $210 million in commitments. That came a month after it expanded its leadership team by appointing Tomoko Kitao in Tokyo, Mingchen Xia and Josh Jacob in Hong Kong as managing directors.</p>
<p>Hamilton Lane was founded in 1991 as a private equity advisory firm for large public pension plans. It has more than 250 employees operating in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.</p>
