Global private equity major, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/warburg-pincus">Warbug Pincus</a> has agreed to invest upto $125 million in Stellar Value Chain Solutions, an Indian third party logistics firm.
Founded by Anshuman Singh, who had set up and led Future Supply Chain Solutions,  the company aims to provide integrated logistics solutions that will include multi-user modern warehousing, primary and secondary distribution, e-fulfilment and cold storage.
It plans to serve customers in the food and beverages, fast moving consumer goods, consumer durables, electronics and hi-tech, lifestyle, automotive, pharmaceuticals and engineering industries.
The Mumbai-based company is expected to be operational in the next few months.
“We believe there is a shortage of high quality providers of outsourced logistics services such as warehouse management and distribution to a wide range of sectors in India. Anshuman brings deep domain expertise and a strong track-record of execution and value creation in this industry,&#8221; said Viraj Sawhney, managing director at Warburg Pincus.
&#8220;We will also seek to drive further consolidation of the third party logistics sector in India through this platform,” he added.
Warburg Pincus has been an active investor in India. with $3.5 billion investments. Its interests in the Indian logistics sector include <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/continental-warehousing">Continental Warehousing</a>, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.con/tag/ecom-express">Ecom Express</a>, Embassy Industrial Parks and Gangavaram Port.
Last year, it committed to invest over Rs 850 crore ($133 million) in Delhi-based e-commerce focused logistics solutions provider Ecom Express Pvt Ltd.
To tap into the logistics and warehousing sector, which has received a big boost with the growing e-commerce space, Warburg Pincus formed a $250-million joint venture with real estate developer Embassy Group to build warehouses across the country.
According to real estate consultancy firm JLL India, the sector has raked in Rs 1,438 crore in investment in 2015 through two major deals, topping the Rs 1,350 crore inflow in 2012 through five deals.
