Thai conglomerate B.Grimm-backed financial comparison site Masii has launched in Bangkok while Hack the Climate awarded groups in its 4th hackathon.

The latest financial comparison platform Masii, backed by multi-billion dollar Thai conglomerate B.Grimm, has been recently introduced to users in Bangkok.
Masii, an online platform, compares credit card and car insurance deals from most of Thailand’s major banks and insurers. To date, it claims to have 40,000 applications for credit cards and car insurance.
“As a Thai company, we saw the need to create a completely localized offering that emphasizes trust and transparency and a fully integrated connection to our credit card and insurance partners,” said Masii’s CTO Tom Kiatcheeranun.
According to SimilarWeb, website and app analytic, Masii had about 300,000 visits, beating 75,000 visits by MoneyGuru, backed by Goldman Sachs.
&#8220;We are fortunate to scale up very quickly whenever we like – we&#8217;re immensely data-focused. Ours is a light touch, low cost growth strategy. This also keeps prices low for our customers on all products from credit cards to car insurance,” said Head of Social Media Sarita Worravitudomsuk.
Masii is run by a team of experts from companies like Deutsche Telekom and McKinsey &amp; Company, as well as an advisory board with backgrounds from Harvard University and other large players.

<h3>Hack the Climate awards groups on climate change</h3>

Hack the Climate, a Philippine-based hackathon for climate change solutions, has awarded groups that came up with technologies adapting climate change to business models.
Dubbed &#8220;Business Unusual&#8221;, a total of 24 teams comprising students and professionals competed in a 40-hour hackathon, the fourth such eco-themed computer programming marathon.
The group Monica&#8217;s Minion won the grand prize, followed by Team 220. Both received cash prizes and were given opportunities to qualify for an incubation grant from the OML Center &#8211; a private organization that supports science-based efforts to mitigate the risks of climate change.
Monica&#8217;s Minion came up with KA-SALI, a Disaster KYC Application that goes into disaster mode in the event of danger. It gives an advisory to the user if they are in danger, and informs them what to do.

Team 220 proposed the MedPrep, a web application powered by Artificial Neural networks, to predict the vulnerability of an area to certain diseases.
Co-founded by Michael Lanchanski, Jacob Scheer, and Elaine Cedillo, Hack the Climate has so far honored more than 200 projects participated by over 600 eco hacktivist in four hackathons held in three key cities in the Philippines since 2014.
