<a href="http://care24.co.in/" target="_blank">Care24</a>, a Mumbai-based home healthcare startup, has raised Rs 2.27 crore ($349.4k) in seed funding from venture capital firm <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=India+Quotient" target="_blank">India Quotient</a>, according to a press release.
The healthcare firm will use the money to enhance its technology and strengthen its team.
Co-founded in July 2014 by Vipin Pathak, Abhishek Tiwari, Garima Tripathi and Pranshu Sharma, Care24 offers care at home through caregivers like nurses, attendants and physiotherapists.
It also provides post-discharge care, bedridden care, chronic pain care, physiotherapy, infant care, pre-natal and post-natal care, everyday medical nursing, geriatric care and assisted daily living.
Before co-founding this venture, Pathak, Garima and Tiwari were working at Ernst &amp; Young, Ceramic Studio Harvard University and PwC Consulting respectively while Sharma co-founded another venture named Outsy, a personalised lifetyle startup.
“We want to create an indelible position as India’s one point solution for patient care services at home. Our choice of business model, its veracity and market approach differentiates us and puts us in a unique position to address the dire need for apt and practical health care services in the country. India Quotient has shown a lot of faith in our capacity to execute the vision of the company,&#8221; said Garima Tripathi.
Currently, Care24 claims to serve 50 new patients a day and is planning to add new service verticals, travel assistants and equipment renting.
“Macro factors like increased income, double income group, increased hospitalisation needs etc are resulting in explosive growth in home healthcare. The use of tech in this highly fragmented industry can be game changing which is the approach of Care24,&#8221; said Madhukar Sinha, partner, India Quotient.
Care24 is also planning to expand its services in other cities of the country.
Early stage investor India Quotient which is in the process of raising new VC fund, has been investing in the companies from its Fund I. This is the third investment by the VC firm in healthcare space after it invested in Curofy and MeraDoctor. Some of its other investments include in companies like Purple Squirrel, Pretty Secrets, Momoe and many others.
