German pharmaceutical company Merck has sold back Bangalore GeNei to its founder, while laundry services firm Wassup has acquired Ezeewash.
<h3>Pharma major Merck sells back Bangalore GeNei to its founder</h3>
Germany based pharmaceutical major <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.merck.com/">Merck</a> has sold <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.bangaloregenei.com/">Bangalore GeNei</a>, a developer of products for biological research, back to its founder S Chandrashekaran as part of an asset purchase deal, according to <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/healthcare/biotech/pharmaceuticals/merck-sells-genei-back-to-founder/articleshow/51735093.cms">a report</a> in The Economic Times.
The deal, which is valued at below Rs 10 crore, is less than a third of its purchase price. Last year Merck had decided to close down Bangalore GeNei, a company it had acquired in 2009 for around Rs 35 crore from <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.sanmargroup.com/">Sanmar Specialty Chemicals</a>.
Chandrashekaran&#8217;s company Pushkar Bioscience has acquired the manufacturing facilities of GeNei, the founder told The Economic Times. &#8220;We will retain the GeNei brand and continue to supply quality reagents to customers while adding new products to expand the business beyond domestic market,&#8221; he said.
<h3>Laundry services startup Wassup acquires Ezeewash</h3>
Laundry services provider <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://wassupondemand.com/">Wassup</a> has acquired <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.ezeewash.com/">Ezeewash</a> in a structured full equity deal, marking its foray in the Hyderabad market. The company said it was in negotiations to make three more acquisitions.
Ezeewash has been in operations for three years in Hyderabad and has serviced over 8,000 customers and currently does over 100 orders per day.
With this acquisition, Wassup Ondemand Laundry Convenience will have access to offer its services  twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Last year, Wassup it has acquired laundry service provider Chamak in Mumbai for an undisclosed amount.
