Gurgaon-based maker of AppAlert, a mobile-based, real-time school bus tracking system has raised over Rs 6 crore ($900,000) in a seed round from an angel investor to launch a cloud-based solution, according to <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/startups/real-time-school-bus-tracker-appalert-raises-rs-6-crore-in-seed-funding/articleshow/51450375.cms">a report</a> in The Economic Times.
&#8220;We received funding to set up the app from a Delhi-based angel investor who is in the logistics business. We are looking to democratise the way in which the process of picking up children from the bus stop happens,&#8221; Co founder and CEO, Ashuvinder Ahuja, .
The app allows real-time tracking of school buses. It allows only a parent or parent-authorised individual to receive the child and is planning to work with about 22 schools in the next few months.
The app sends live roll-call and instant boarding or deboarding notifications to parents. This is a subscription-based model for parents and the schools don&#8217;t have to pay anything other than buying a web-enabled Android phone where the driver taps the app each time a specific student has entered or exited the bus.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Car and bike pooling app Liftiee raises $108k</h3>
Actor Rannvijay Singh has led a seed round of Rs 72 lakh (around $108k) in car and bike pooling app Liftiee. Television actor Anita Hassanandani also participated in the round, according to <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/money/car-bike-pooling-app-liftiee-raises-seed-round-from-rannvijay-singh-anita-hassanandani/articleshow/51438162.cms">a report</a> in The Economic Times.
The newly raised capital will be utilised to on-board drivers and customers across cities.
Liftiee, which was co-founded by Ritvik Mathur and Rashid Khan, on-boards only private vehicles for the car and bike pooling options based on government id proof and license. Headquartered in Mumbai, the app will on-board drivers and customers across cities.
&#8220;The law does not bar cars and bikes from charging a nominal amount for ride-pooling towards maintenance and fuel charges. Liftiee works on the same principal and will be available to users at the cost of Rs 10 for up to 3 km distance which will be paid through the wallet,&#8221; said Rashid Khan, co-founder of Liftiee.
