Self-publishing platform for Indian writers Notion Press, on-demand talent marketplace Zolo and agri-business startup Krishi Star have received funding.
<h3>Chennai-based Notion Press raises $1m in pre-Series A round</h3>
Chennai-based Notion Press, a <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=self-publishing" target="_blank">self-publishing platform</a>, has raised $1 million in pre-Series A round from undisclosed high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), the startup announced on Monday.
The money will help Notion Press consolidate its market leadership, strengthen its management team and expand its services in the market.
Founded in 2012 by Naveen Valsakumar, Bhargava Adepalley and Jana Pillay, Notion Press Media Pvt. Ltd offers book printing, distribution and marketing services to authors and publishers from around the world.
<h3>Zolo gets seed funding from Swiss firm Hitouch</h3>
Zolo, an on-demand talent marketplace where people can discover, buy and sell unique talents and skills, has got an undisclosed seed funding from Switzerland-based software company Hitouch AG.
The funding will help the company to expand to other cities and to add more categories services.
“Zolo intends to capitalize on the growing trend of people looking to start their own business and work at their own convenience. We like to think of ourselves as a platform for solo entrepreneurs helping them build an income and a growing personal brand for long lasting success,&#8221; said Satayu Basu, Co-founder and CEO, Zolo.
&#8220;We&#8217;re also launching dedicated platforms like Zolo Homes, Zolo Skills, Zolo Rentals, Zolo Academy, Zolo Lounges &amp; Zolo Eat to build a holistic environment with space, technology and marketing for solo entrepreneurs to build a business on their core competencies and leave the rest to us,&#8221; Basu added.
<h3>Upaya &amp; Artha Venture lead seed funding round in Krishi Star</h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Upaya+Social+Venture" target="_blank">Upaya Social Venture</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Artha+Venture+Challenge" target="_blank">Artha Venture Challenge</a> have led a seed funding round in Mumbai-based Krishi Star. 1to4 Foundation and an angel investor also took part in the round.
The startup did not disclose the deal amount.
Krishi Star was started in 2014 and works with producer companies, which are wholly owned by farmers and are very similar to cooperatives in that they help small farmers achieve economies of scale by engaging in a variety of activities from marketing to input-sourcing.
