Tax Information portal Taxsutra has raised Rs 2.5 crore ($367k) while law firms DH Law Associates and Link Legal are planning a merger.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Taxsutra gets funding from Pai, Balakrishnan &amp; others</h3>
Taxsutra, a Pune-based tax information portal which is run by Taxsutra Services Pvt Ltd, has raised Rs 2.5 crore ($367k) in funding from existing investors <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=mohandas+pai" target="_blank">T V Mohandas Pai</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=V+Balakrishnan" target="_blank">V Balakrishnan</a>, former CFOs of Infosys.
P V Srinivasan, former tax head at IT firm Wipro Ltd, also took part in this round.
“The Taxsutra team has utilised their domain experience to build a deeply valuable repository of highly relevant content and expert analysis, and are now demonstrating the data network effects that arise out of a well-executed model in this space,” Pai said.
Last year, Pai and Balakrishnan had invested Rs 1 crore in the company.
Taxsutra runs six online subscription based portals on direct tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, corporate laws and accounting/auditing standards, all targetted at businesses. Founded in 2011, the company claims to have doubled its revenue since last round of funding.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">DH Law Associates merging with Link Legal</h3>
Law firms DH Law Associates and Link Legal are merging themselves and the combined firm will retain the name of <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=link+legal" target="_blank">Link Legal India Law Services</a>, according to a press release.
The merged entity will have 35 partners and 155 lawyers and will also have offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Gurgaon.
Atul Sharma, co-founder of Link Legal, will become the managing partner of the combined firm while DH Law co-founder Nusrat Hassan will be a co-managing partner. The earlier co-managing partner of Link Legal, AG Karkhanis, will be the chairman of the merged entity.
