<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Tata+Group" target="_blank">Tata Group</a>&#8216;s Voltas is looking to buy Kenstar, the home appliances brand of <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Videocon" target="_blank">Videocon</a>, according to an Economic Times <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.pressreader.com/india/the-times-of-india-new-delhi-edition/20170407/282308204956509" target="_blank">article</a> citing sources.
Voltas is currently engaged in the sale process after a detailed presentation was made to the company leadership by the dealmakers representing the sellers, the report said.
Founded in 1996, Kenstar manufactures household appliances including food processors, hand blenders, television, electric cattle, juicers, ac products, washing machines and micro waves. It has a significance presence in air-coolers.
Voltas Ltd provides engineering projects and solutions, which serves to industrial, infrastructural and commercial applications in India and more than 30 countries overseas.
If the deal happens, this will be the first acquisition by Tata under the new leadership.

Clean energy company <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=ReNew+Power+Ventures+Pvt+Ltd" target="_blank">ReNew Power Ventures Pvt Ltd</a> is planning an initial public offering (IPO) for raising up to $600 million. It is expected to launch within a year.
Existing investors like Goldman Sachs, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Asian Development Bank and Global Environment Fund may divest their shareholding though the IPO, The Economic Times <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/ipos/fpos/renew-power-plans-ipo-to-raise-up-to-600-million/articleshow/58056084.cms" target="_blank">reported</a> citing sources.
HSBC, Kotak and Bank of America Merrill Lynch are arranging the proposed share sale.
In January, the renewable energy firm had secured long-term $390 million debt funding from its existing investor Asian Development Bank (ADB). After that in Feb, Japan&#8217;s JERA acquired 10 per cent stake in ReNew Power for $200 million.
