<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Medikoe" target="_blank">Medikoe</a>, a healthcare search-and-discovery startup, is in talks with investors to raise Series A funding of upto $5 million to hire more people, and invest in its tech platform and product development.
The firm had raised $100,000 from Anil Menon, CEO of <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=CMS+Computers" target="_blank">CMS Computers</a>, in November. Medikoe, which has a website and Android app, allows users to connect with pharma stores, diagnostic centres and wellness outlets. Once connected through a call, the user can book appointments or ask for deliveries of medicines.
&#8220;Booking an appointment will become possible when we launch our second product in a month&#8217;s time,&#8221; said Sreevalsan Menon, who co-founded the company with Raman Shukla. They had been colleagues at IBM, where Sreevalsan was the country manager for India, before starting Medikoe.
The platform currently has 4,500 users on web and 2,500 on its app. It operates in Bangalore and is currently in the process of launching in Mumbai. Delhi will follow in February 2016.
Medikoe is also launching an app on the App Store in a week&#8217;s time. &#8220;Majority of Indian smartphones run on Android, but we found that most of the people in our target user base own an iPhone,&#8221; said Sreevalsan. The startup competes with other venture capital-funded companies like <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Practo" target="_blank">Practo</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Lybrate" target="_blank">Lybrate</a> in the same sector.
