Other unnamed investors have also put in money in the round.
BabyBerry plans to use the money for product development and marketing.
Launched in November 2015 by Balasubramanian Venkatachalam, Subhashini Subramaniam and Dev Vig, BabyBerry is a child health and wellness platform, and the company says it helps new-age parents in providing the best possible environment for their child’s holistic growth and development.
Since January this year, this is the fourth startup which raised funding in the child care space in India.
In January, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/india-mycity4kids-raises-3m-in-series-a-round-led-by-sidbi-25942/" target="_blank">mycity4kids</a>, an online platform that helps multi-tasking mothers, had raised $3 million in Series A round led by <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=SIDBI" target="_blank">SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd</a>, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
Around the same time, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/india-dealbook-500-startups-invests-child-app-360-ride-raises-150k-seed-qdesq-fund-raise-25863/" target="_blank">My Child App</a>, which helps parents track developmental disorders in their child, had received $100,000 in a seed round of funding led by Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm 500 Startups, and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/india-dealbok-times-internet-buys-viral-shots-myly-and-infurnia-raise-seed-funding-26238/" target="_blank">Myly</a>, the mobile-based education app, had raised $100k in seed funding from Newbie Promoter Pvt Ltd.
In February, on-demand childcare service platform <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.meetpoppy.com/" target="_blank">Poppy</a>, founded by Indian American Avni Patel, had also raised funding.
“We see a lot of potential in this domain, and we are excited to work with the team. Parenting is a phase that deserves intense focus and attention. We are confident that the BabyBerry platform will add great value to its target audience”, said Nitin Bagamane.
BabyBerry comes with features like digital vaccination chart and reminders, WHO growth chart, milestone information, health records management and access to the nearest doctors based on geo location. The milestone information covers all aspects of child development –- physical, cognitive, social, emotional and language.
The app claims to have over 50,000 downloads till date on Android as well as iOS platforms.
