Philippine airline firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.cebupacificair.com">Cebu Air Inc</a> and France-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.atr-aircraft.com/">ATR Aircraft </a> have entered into a $673 million aircraft deal, yesterday, at the Paris Air Show in France.
Cebu Air, which operates under the trade name Cebu Pacific Air, said it has ordered 16 ATR72-600 cabin from ATR, which includes options for 10 additional ones valued at $673 million.
Deliveries of the new aircraft in the Philippines, will start in the third quarter of 2016.
The order is part of Cebu Pacific’s fleet renewal program. It currently operates a fleet of eight ATR 72-500 aircraft, which will be retired as the new aircraft enter service.
&#8220;The entry into service of the ATR 72-600 will see Cebu Pacific with new generation aircraft to meet growing demand in the Philippines for inter-island services,&#8221; Cebu Air said in its statement, noting the transaction will see Cebu Pacific double its turboprop fleet size, subject to the execution of final purchase documentation.

Cebu Pacific president and CEO Lance Y Gokongwei said they have been operating ATR aircraft since 2008, and it has enabled the company to bring safe, reliable, and affordable air transport to smaller cities and islands throughout the Philippines.
&#8220;This order is an affirmation of our commitment to extend the convenience of affordable air travel to even more communities. We are very pleased to be the launch customer of this new configuration of the ATR 72-600, as this will allow us to offer our customers more seats at even lower fares,&#8221; Gokongwei said.
The newly-ordered ATR 72-600 will be equipped, for the first time, with the high density Armonia cabin, the widest cabin in the turboprop market. It will be equipped with 78 slim-line seats and wider overhead bins with 30 per cent more stowage space.
&#8220;These new technological innovations further enhance space and comfort for passengers,&#8221; Cebu Air said.
Cebu Air&#8217;s last trading price increased 0.53 per cent or P0.450 to close at P85.
