Russian technology park IT Park has partnered with OIC to launch a startup platform, while Kalibr is exploring partnerships with Iranian technology and science parks.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">IT Park partners OIC to launch startup platform</h3>
Russian technology park <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.itpark-kazan.ru/en" target="_blank">IT Park</a> has announced the launch of the <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://oicstartups.org/" target="_blank">OIC Startup Platform</a> with the support of the Secretariat of the <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.oic-oci.org/home/?lan=en" target="_blank">Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC)</a>, UK-based <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://oxademy.ac.uk/" target="_blank">Oxademy</a>, an online business education provider operating in eight countries, and educational initiative <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://selet.biz/en/" target="_blank">Selet</a>, based in Tatarstan.
In a <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.ewdn.com/2016/12/02/organisation-of-islamic-cooperation-teams-up-with-russias-it-park-and-uks-oxademy-to-launch-startup-accelerator/" target="_blank">report</a> by East West Digital News (EWDN), the five-month acceleration programme provide startups with online educational content and mentorship.
Aiming to resolve problems and generate employment, Ahmed Halid, CEO of the OIC Youth Forum, said in the report: “OIC member states have a very young population — which may be a chance for sustainable development but also entail such issues as a high level of unemployment, opportunity inequality and insufficient access to education.&#8221;
&#8220;The project offers young people a great opportunity to receive efficient training and reach investors. By creating their own companies, they will create new jobs, contributing to reduce unemployment,” he added.
Aimed at stimulating cooperations between and across the 57 OIC member states, of which Russia is an observer state, the project has apparently attracted strong interest from various government agencies and private corporations.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Kalibr explores partnership with Iranian tech parks</h3>
Moscow-based technopark <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.kalibroao.ru/">Kalibr</a> is exploring partnerships with Iranian science and technology parks following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Fars and the Khuzestan technoparks.
According to a <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.ewdn.com/2016/12/09/russian-tech-park-kalibr-agrees-cooperation-with-iranian-counterparts/" target="_blank">report</a> by EWDN, the three-year agreement will see the parks facilitate collaboration between resident companies and technology transfers between Russian and Iranian industrial corporations.
Kalibr and Khuzestan Science and Technology Park work in similar areas operating in domains such as information technologies, laser printers, medical, oil and gas equipment. At this time, Kalibr focuses on instrumentation, IT, additive technologies, unmanned transportation, media and telecom.
