Electronic payments major Stripe has launched in Singapore while mobile customer engagement venture Perx has formed a partnership with customer engagement startup Complex Interactions.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Stripe officially launches in Singapore</h3>
US-based electronics payments major <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://stripe.com/" target="_blank" rel="follow" data-ct="c6ac6a9ac76955b5074a7977ba3adf05">Stripe</a> has officially launched in Singapore, following a phase of quiet operations for the last 11 months during its beta testing phase in the country.
It claims amongst its customer portfolio venture-backed companies like Grab, 99.co, Tradegecko and GuavaPass, as well as <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/deliveroo" target="_blank">Deliveroo</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/kickstarter" target="_blank">Kickstarter</a>.
It provides a platform that permits merchants to integrate electronic payment solutions simply and enables secure transactions in over 130 currencies, as well as allowing merchants to sell products through third-party apps such as Twitter. In addition, merchants can utilise Stripe to incorporate their businesses in the US by filling up a web form.
In an official statement, <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnbcollison" target="_blank">John Collison</a>, president and co­-founder at Stripe, said, “Singapore is a natural hub for entrepreneurs. With an active VC landscape, a supportive local ecosystem, and break out successes like <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/grab" target="_blank">Grab</a>, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/lazada" target="_blank">Lazada</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/propertyguru" target="_blank">PropertyGuru</a>, this city is spurring a new wave of economic opportunity. We hope to be a catalyst to help more businesses get started here in Singapore and a springboard to support them as they expand globally.”
Launched in 2011, Stripe has raised equity finance of $300 million from investors such as <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/sequoia-capital" target="_blank">Sequoia Capital</a>, Andreessen Horowitz, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/general-catalyst" target="_blank">General Catalyst</a>, and US billionaires Elon Musk and Peter Thiel.
Competing with the likes of <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/braintree" target="_blank">Braintree</a> and Red Dot Payments, Stripe sees itself working towards other goals, with Collision arguing: “There are a few players that we overlap with on certain aspects but, for the most part, we’re working towards different goals. Stripe is concerned with lowering the barriers to starting and running an internet business.&#8221;
He adds, &#8220;Think of Stripe as an AWS for payments: we provide a suite of cloud services designed to meet the complex needs of the new generation of internet business models — like marketplaces, crowdfunding platforms and subscriptions businesses. Beyond payments, we’re focused on building the tools and the infrastructure that reduce development time for our users, and advance commerce online.”
<h3 style="text-align: justify;"> Perx forms partnership with Complex Interactions</h3>
Singapore-based mobile customer engagement and loyalty platform provider <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.getperx.com/" target="_blank" rel="follow" data-ct="dc3a2b5261ac8d10adf9b1960dadbf78">Perx</a> has entered into a master reseller agreement with Australian customer engagement and loyalty startup <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.complexinteractions.com.au" target="_blank">Complex Interactions</a>., as well as appointing <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/vijayan-n-1a43b073" target="_blank">N. Vijayan</a> as regional sales director in Malaysia.
Vijayan was previously the Country Sales Head for SAP Malaysia, leading sales and implementation of ERP solutions to major corporations in Southeast Asia.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening Perx’s Asia Pacific footprint, as well as aiding Perx in entering the Australian market and accessing Australian clients via New Age Technology, a smart consumer electronics and educational devices manufacturer and distributor owned by Complex Interactions co-founder <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://au.linkedin.com/in/sean-andrews" target="_blank">Sean Andrews</a>.
This development comes following Perx announcing a partnership with Visa Business Hub, which enables Perx to helps SMEs to automate their mobile customer engagement and loyalty requirements.
