Singapore-based real estate investment management firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/silkroad-property-partners" target="_blank">SilkRoad Property Partners </a>has hired William Liu as Executive Director of its Hong Kong branch.
A real estate investment veteran with over 25 years of experience, Liu was the Senior Director of Institutional Investment Properties at CBRE. His past experience includes managing multi-party investment transactions worth over $2 billion in Hong Kong, as well as mainland China, working with major developers, multi-national corporations and institutional investors.
Peter Wittendorp, Managing Partner of SilkRoad Property Partners, said, “ His proven track record in acquisitions and divestments of property assets adds another dimension to our expertise in Hong Kong. This will be a game changer for us.&#8221;
“The firm has made extensive in-roads in the Hong Kong market and I look forward to building our network further. The interchange of our extensive knowledge in the area is a mutual benefit for all of us and I hope that we can utilise this understanding to broaden the scope of our business to the rest of Asia”, said Liu, who has also had experience in the Asia-Pacific.
Liu currently serves as a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. Additionally, he holds the certification of a Registered Professional Surveyor (GP) of the Surveyors Registration Board of Hong Kong.
Liu&#8217;s appointment comes at a time when the Hong Kong market is forecast to face a <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/af887232-4820-11e6-8d68-72e9211e86ab" target="_blank">challenging period</a>, with banks, asset managers and insurance companies from mainland China driving growth by acquiring prime Hong Kong office buildings.
This has prompted Hong Kong&#8217;s government to announce its plans to release more land for commercial redevelopment in the oversubscribed heart of the city. But slowing economic growth in China has led institutional investors from outside Greater China to see the city’s property market as overheating and about to enter a correctional phase.
