On Friday, the ride-hailing firm held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new headquarters leased from Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust. The new office at one-north business park will also accommodate its largest R&amp;D centre.
&#8220;Our new headquarters represents our long-term commitment to Singapore and the region; the new space will cater to our evolving business demands as we continue to innovate and use technology to meet our customers’ daily needs, groom more tech talents, and nurture more tech startups for Southeast Asia,” said Grab Singapore head Lim Kell Jay.
Grab co-founder and CEO Anthony Tan said that the firm will also add 1,000 new technology roles, including data scientists, AI researchers, engineers, designers, and product managers, across its R&amp;D centres globally this year.
The company currently employs 6,000 people across Southeast Asia. Grab recently raised $1.5 billion from SoftBank Group Corp&#8217;s Vision Fund, bringing the total raised in an ongoing Series H round to around $4.5 billion.
