Danantara, Hisense sign tech cooperation pact
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara has signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s multinational electronics and home appliance manufacturer Hisense Group to explore investment and technology cooperation.
The agreement was signed in Jakarta on May 15 by Investment and Downstream Minister as well as Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani; Danantara CTO Sigit Puji Santosa; and Hisense Group chairman Jia Shaoqian. The signing was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto.
In a statement posted on social media, Roeslani said the partnership is aimed at “strengthening investment cooperation and global partnerships in technology”. He added that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to “attract quality investment, encourage technology transfer, create jobs, and strengthen the domestic industrial ecosystem”.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi described the MoU as “an initial step in exploring cooperation in the technology sector”. He added that Prabowo welcomed Hisense’s interest in expanding cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in supporting the country’s industrial development agenda and investment growth.
Mitratel secures green loan from HSBC Indonesia
Indonesian telecom tower company PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk, or Mitratel, has secured a 500-billion-rupiah ($28.2 million) green trade loan facility from HSBC Indonesia to support the development of sustainable digital infrastructure across the country.
The short-term and uncommitted financing facility will be allocated to projects that meet green or sustainability criteria, including the expansion of Mitratel’s fibre-to-tower network and renewable energy initiatives for telecom infrastructure.
Mitratel president director Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said the funding will be used to “accelerate the development of a sustainable telecommunications tower infrastructure ecosystem” and improve digital connectivity access in Indonesia.
“Green Trade Loan facility is an important part of Mitratel’s strategy to strengthen sustainable digital infrastructure development in Indonesia,” Hartoko said in a statement. He added that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring that business expansion is carried out responsibly.
Mitratel said it has been expanding its green tower initiatives through renewable energy utilisation, including its Power as a Service (PaaS) offering and the integration of solar panel systems at telecommunications towers. The company said the approach is expected to improve energy efficiency while reducing operational carbon emissions.
