Enterprise AI stratup fileAI has announced securing an investment from JRE Ventures, while Singapore’s Novva Group said it is acquiring a solar project in the Philippines.
Japan’s JRE Ventures invests in fileAI
fileAI, a Singapore-based enterprise AI startup backed by 1982 Ventures, has secured a strategic investment from JRE Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Japan’s JR East Group, according to an announcement.
Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
fileAI uses artificial intelligence to convert legacy contracts and documents into structured, searchable digital assets. Its platform automates digitisation, data extraction, document management, and contract analysis for large enterprises.
The partnership will focus on deploying fileAI’s governed AI platform across JR East Group companies, helping digitise historical contracts and documents, extract key information from unstructured files, create centralised repositories, and generate analytics for operational decision-making.
The deal marks a step in fileAI’s expansion into Japan, where corporations are investing in AI to modernise legacy systems and improve productivity. The startup said it is building a local team in Tokyo across sales, engineering and customer success.
“Japan is a pivotal market for fileAI, and JRE is exactly the kind of partner we envisioned building with here,” fileAI Chief Executive Christian Schneider said in a statement.
Novva Group to acquire 120MW solar project
Singapore-based Novva Group has agreed to acquire a 120MW solar power plant in the Philippines, marking its first investment in the country.
Novva said it will acquire San Jose Solar Power Plant in Bukidnon from Mabuhay Power Holdings for an undisclosed amount.
The greenfield solar photovoltaic project is expected to generate more than 200 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually once operational. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.
Novva said the project will be integrated into its regional energy platform, which combines renewable generation, energy storage, grid connectivity, and infrastructure financing across Southeast Asia.
The company said the Bukidnon acquisition forms part of its strategy to build clean energy infrastructure across Southeast Asia and Latin America.
