Singapore AI startup Akro raises $700K and other SE Asia deals

Akro, a Singapore-based artificial intelligence startup, has announced raising $700,000 in a pre-seed funding round anchored by Amigos Venture Capital.

The round also drew participation from strategic angel investors with backgrounds in financial services, healthcare, and consumer technology, per the announcement.

Founded in 2025, Akro develops AI models that automate document-heavy workflows by extracting and validating information from scanned documents, handwritten records and other unstructured data.

The company said its platform uses a network of specialised AI models rather than a single large model, allowing it to process data more efficiently while keeping sensitive information private.

Chief executive Marcus Quek said the fresh capital will be used to expand Akro’s engineering team, accelerate product development and invest in AI computing infrastructure.
