Singapore’s Blue Fire AI closes $9m funding round

Singaporean technology company Blue Fire AI (BFAI) has closed its latest funding round with $9 million in aggregate commitments, alongside a strategic partnership with Japan’s Mizuho Financial Group and Asset Management One (AM-One).

As part of the deal, AM-One will take a minority stake in BFAI and work with the company to develop and distribute AI-driven investment products in Japan, according to an announcement.

AM-One, which manages over $500 billion in assets, will offer new equity investment products powered by BFAI’s proprietary neuro-symbolic AI decision engine to its institutional and retail clients.

This will allow AM-One’s portfolio managers to perform bottom-up fundamental analysis at scale, identify overvalued securities and deliver repeatable, informed alpha.

“We are excited to leverage BFAI’s pioneering capabilities in AI-driven fundamental research to further enhance our investment capabilities,” said Noriyuki Sugihara, President and CEO of AM-One.

1982 Ventures invests in Limited

Singapore-based fund manager 1982 Ventures has invested in San Francisco-based fintech Limited through its Fund II, as the company expanded its seed round to $18.5 million, according to an announcement.

The round was preempted by existing investor Third Prime. North Island Ventures, which led Limited’s original seed round, invested again alongside The House Fund and Collab+Currency. Other new investors included ParaFi Capital, Pharsalus Capital, Digital Currency Group and Onigiri Capital. Early backers Arche Capital and SevenX Ventures continue to support the company.

Limited provides business accounts for companies operating across borders. Its platform offers accounts in the US, EU, UK, Latin America and Africa without requiring local entities, as well as payments to more than 170 countries and local-currency payouts in over 60 currencies. It also offers stablecoin transfers, corporate cards, spend controls and accounting integrations.

The company plans to use the capital for senior hires in go-to-market, operations and compliance; new local payment corridors across Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East and North Africa; and additional treasury features for larger companies with multiple entities.

“In under 10 months, Limited has built business accounts across five regions and payments to 170+ countries on a very lean team,” said Herston Powers, founding managing partner at 1982 Ventures.
