Singapore-based data centre developer Zerra DC has secured an investment from Macquarie Capital to expand its hyperscale platform across Asia-Pacific, the company said on Tuesday.

Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

The investment builds on Macquarie Capital’s existing relationship with Zerra at Western Downs Digital Park (WDDP) in Queensland.

Zerra said it will develop and operate the WDDP campus, with Macquarie Capital participating as a consortium partner and project and financial adviser.

The firm’s current development pipeline comprises more than 2 gigawatts of planned IT capacity across Australia, Japan and India.

Investments in Asia-Pacific data centre buildouts have been gathering pace, with Australian data centre operator AirTrunk committing $3 billion in April to build two hyperscale data centres in Malaysia.

Zerra added Grant Samuel acted as financial adviser for the deal.
