Webinar – A data-driven perspective on whether 2022 can equal or surpass the record-breaking dealmaking of 2021

In DealStreetAsia’s next webinar — Market Sentiment Update: What Q1 2022 can tell us about the second half of the year & beyond — we get to the heart of one of the most pertinent and recurring questions about investing in Asia.

Which way do we go after the best year yet?

Is the market likely to top the heady highs of 2021 which saw China raising $87.4 billion, India raising $46 billion and Southeast Asia raising $25.7 billion?

Early indications are encouraging. According to figures from the Deals Barometer — a monthly overview of dealmaking across Asia — startups in the region raised over 12 billion in China and India, and north of $5 billion in Southeast Asia.

But is this a harbinger of another great year, or the lingering effects of 2021’s unusually buoyant private capital markets? Will fintech, e-commerce and logistics continue to be the engines of growth? Will Asia emerge as a safe haven for investing in a world beset by geopolitical tensions, or given the interconnected nature of finance markets, is it likely to be impacted? Is the age of ‘easy money’ over and how will that affect the growth trajectory of startups in the region?

Our panel will answer these tough questions with perspectives powered by data and years of experience. We will use DealStreetAsia research tracking Q1 2022, and the first month of Q2 to illuminate the fog of uncertainty on what the future holds for the rest of 2022 and beyond.

The panelists include:

  • Conrad Tsang, Founder and Chairman, Strategic Year Holdings Limited
  • Rishika Chandan, Managing Director, Venturi Partners
  • Dimitra Taslim, VP, GGV Capital
  • Peter McMillan, Managing Director and Head of Sales, APAC, Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN)

The webinar is organised by DealStreetAsia and sponsored by DFIN.
