<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Pfingsten+Partners" target="_blank">Pfingsten Partners</a>, a US-based mid-market buyout firm, has closed its latest fund at $382 million.
That exceeded its target of $350 million. The manufacturing-focussed fund has a presence in China and India as well.
Much of the funding has been raised from wealthy individuals and family offices. That is unlike many private equity firms who prefer <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://blogs.wsj.com/privateequity/2016/02/25/the-money-hunt-why-pfingsten-partners-likes-wealthy-investors/" target="_blank">bigger investors</a> for their funds.
The fund will target businesses that have between $20 million and $150 million in annual revenue and EBITDA of between $3 million and $12 million.
The firm typically seeks control of portfolio companies and advises them on operational improvements, bringing in professional management and global expansion strategies.
&#8220;The value we bring to middle market companies lies in our ability to take a company through the transition from its entrepreneurial roots to a professionally managed business. We use very conservative financial leverage and strive to double or triple the size of our businesses through organic growth and strategic add-on acquisitions,&#8221; said James J. Norton, senior managing director, in a statement.
Pfingsten has deployed about $1.3 billion since inception in 1989, and has made 110 acquisitions. Its offices in China, a manufacturing powerhouse, and India, the fastest growing developing economy, are mainly for market entry and providing engineering services.
