Mega rounds into Chinese startups propel Asia fintech funding to record highs of $4.9b in Q1

Led by multi-billion dollar deals in China, investment into VC-backed fintech companies saw a robust rebound in the first quarter of 2016, attracting $4.9 billion worth of investment taking the total funding in this sector to $5.7 billion. The fintech sector also saw a record high in terms of number of deals at 218 in the first quarter, according to The Pulse of Fintech, a quarterly report by CBInsights-KPMG.
