<article>Singapore&#8217;s state investment fund <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/temasek-holdings" target="_blank">Temasek Holdings</a> has made an investment in <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://moncler.com/" target="_blank">Moncler</a>, an Italian-French luxury company and leader in high-end outerwear and apparel.</article>

Singapore&#8217;s state investment fund <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/temasek-holdings" target="_blank">Temasek Holdings</a> has made an investment in <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://moncler.com/" target="_blank">Moncler</a>, an Italian-French luxury company and leader in high-end outerwear and apparel.
This marks Temasek’s first significant investment in an Italian company. Moncler is a publicly traded corporation on the Italian stock exchange, the Borsa Italiana.
The transaction is by way of a stake purchase in a newly incorporated investment company from holding firm Ruffini Partecipazioni. Financial terms of the investment are undisclosed.
Speaking on the acquisition, Temasek’s Head of Europe, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/person.asp?personId=140179896&amp;privcapId=107637&amp;previousCapId=107637&amp;previousTitle=Temasek%20Holdings%20(Private)%20Limited" target="_blank">Tan Chong Lee</a>, said, “This investment represents Temasek’s largest commitment to an Italian company to date. Italy is home to leading consumer and industrial businesses that have considerable export and international growth potential.”

Moncler, which was established in 1952 in Grenoble, France, operates in over 70 countries throughout Italy, EMEA (Europe, Middle East &amp; Africa), Asia and the Americas through a leading network of mono-brand stores and major exclusive luxury department and multi-brand stores.
Temasek’s Senior Managing Director for Europe and Joint Head of Consumer, <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://uk.linkedin.com/in/luigi-feola-6396134" target="_blank">Luigi Feola</a>, added: “We are pleased to gain exposure to Moncler, a company with a long standing legacy and whose products are regarded for their quality and innovation. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside our partner Remo Ruffini and to support Moncler in the long term as it continues its global expansion.”
According to Temasek, it sees opportunities in leading European companies that are looking to expand and diversify their export markets to growth economies in Asia, Africa and Latin America (LATAM).
This includes consumer companies where there is strong appeal around their brands in markets such as China and synchronises with the investment themes of Temasek, which targets long-term investments centred on the themes of: growing middle income populations; transforming economies; deepening comparative advantages; and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.paristechreview.com/2015/03/09/hidden-champions/" target="_blank">hidden champions</a> in emerging and mature markets.
Moncler <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-12-11/billionaire-emerges-as-skiwear-designer-moncler-sets-ipo" target="_blank">conducted its initial public offering (IPO) in Itlay in 2013</a>, it is led by CEO <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.forbes.com/profile/remo-ruffini/" target="_blank">Remo Ruffini</a> and maintains a market capitalisation of 3.88 billion euros, with a P/E ratio of 23.11.
According to its annual <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.monclergroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/ENG_MONCLER_AR_2015_A4.pdf" target="_blank">report</a>, for FY2015, it reported revenues of 880.4 million euros, compared to revenues of 694.2 million euros in 2014.
