Silicon Valley-based venture capital fund <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/500-Startups/">500 Startups </a>has led a seed funding round along with <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/VIISA/">Vietnam Innovative Startup Accelerator</a> (VIISA) in Vietnam-based SaaS enterprise platform Base.vn.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Three other angel investors also participated in the round.
The startup will use the funds raised to acquire more talent to continue developing the platform and prepare for a major scale-up in the near future, said Pham Kim Hung, Founder &amp; CEO of Base.vn who was featured in Forbes Vietnam 30 Under 30 in 2016.
Base.vn claims to be the first open platform in South East Asia dedicated to enterprise management and operations, allowing its users to solve various operational challenges such as hiring, payroll, task management, team collaboration and approval management, among others.
While each application can work on a standalone basis, they can also communicate freely with each other via simple API integrations. The overall result is a more streamlined and substantially cheaper enterprise IT setup.
According to Eddie Thai, General Partner of 500 Startups Vietnam, SMEs and corporations alike need to digitize their operations intelligently if they want to be able to compete in the 21st century. That&#8217;s why the VC firm has previously invested in several successful enterprise startups, like Twilio, Plangrid, and Talkdesk.
“However, I believe that many international solutions haven&#8217;t paid enough attention to this region. Base can fill the gap in Vietnam and beyond,” said Eddie Thai, General Partner of 500 Startups Vietnam.
To date, Base.vn has integrated over 20 applications with 500 SME and corporate customers. The apps are categorized based on the five pillars of every enterprise: human resources, sales &amp; marketing, finance, operations, and management.
Silicon Valley-based venture capital fund 500 Startups recently closed its 20th deal from its $10-million Vietnam fund by backing a fintech blockchain startup.
Speaking to DEALSTREETASIA earlier, Thai said that the fund aims to boost its investments to two or more deals per month this year.
“At the same time, we will continue supporting our portfolio companies. We’re proud of the progress they’ve made so far and we want to continue helping them attract talent, enter new markets, and raise capital,” he revealed.
