Australia&#8217;s <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.quadrantpe.com.au/">Quadrant Private Equity</a> is about to close its fifth fund at $980 million, its biggest ever, three weeks after the offer was launched.
Limited partners are currently going over records of past and existing funds, and the track record of the firm&#8217;s five partners, said a Financial Review <a href="http://www.afr.com/street-talk/quadrant-private-equity-to-close-fund-five-at-980m-lp-sources-20160814-gqsi5u" target="_blank">report</a> .
Quadrant, Australia&#8217;s top-quartile performing PE firm, is headed by Chris Hadley, Justin Ryan, Marcus Darville, Jonathon Pearce and Alex Eady.
Quadrant is also about to take full ownership of furniture retailer Super Amart this week. It had made an offer for the 25 per cent shareholding that is currently held by Ironbridge Funds, and talks have been going on since last month. Ironbridge is understood to have had three other offers, and Bain Capital was also interested in exploring a merger with peer Fantastic Furniture.
Earlier, Quadrant also bought a stake in St Ives Home Care, which valued the latter at $300 million, and was done through its last $850 million fund.
The firm had a successful exit from Canberra Data Centres after about 18 months of buying in. Its stake was bought by <a href="http://www.infratil.com/">Infratil Limited</a>, a New Zealand-based infrastructure and energy investment group with assets in excess of $4 billion, and <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.csc.gov.au/">Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation</a>.
It exited media monitor iSentia with about 6x returns. Its previous exit was from Virtus Health in 2013.
Quadrant is also expected to sell its 55 per cent stake in Australian cancer treatment provider Icon Group in an initial public offering by mid-2017. Icon is now worth $745 million, according to the company.
After rapid development in Australia&#8217;s healthcare business since Sydney-based Quadrant first invested in 2014, Icon expects revenue of A$700 million in 2017. It has become Australia&#8217;s largest chemotherapy provider and among the largest radiation therapy providers.
