Sinagpore-based investor <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/lion-global" target="_blank">Lion Global Investors</a> has launched a fund that allows retail investors to invest directly in startups.
The LionGlobal Disruptive Innovation Fund allows the public to invest in companies that create and benefit from disruptive trends. For a minimum subscription and management fee, the fund, provides access to a portfolio of 100 companies. The 100 global disruptive companies are shortlisted from sectors such as digital media, social network, virtual reality and big data, among others.
&#8220;The Sub-Fund aims to provide long-term capital growth by investing primarily in equities or equity- linked securities (including but not limited to, preference shares, real estate investment trusts and depositary receipts) of companies globally, which are potential disruptors with strong growth prospects,&#8221; the investment firm said in its fund prospectus.
&#8220;We may use FDIs for such purposes as may be permitted under the Code and subject to compliance with the limits and/or restrictions (if any) applicable to Excluded Investment Products,&#8221; it added.
The fund invests in a globally diversified portfolio of disruptive companies through a factor-based screening process. The stocks are screened based on the following market capitalisation, sales growth, price-to-sales ratio, price volatility, long-term earnings-per-share growth. The portfolio is rebalanced every quarter.
&#8220;In LGI’s view, LGDIF will appeal to investors who are looking for beta (market) exposure to a portfolio of the global stocks of disruptive companies. Investors should note that the Fund is not an absolute return fund or an all-weather fund,&#8221; the company said in a release.

Targeted at the youth, Lion Global has set the Fund’s minimum investment amount at $100, and investors can invest in the Fund using cash or SRS monies. The Fund is currently available on the platforms of LGI’s online distribution partners, Fundsupermart.com, dollarDEX and POEMS.
