Renewable energy producer Equis Energy has named Nitin Apte as CEO of the company while Australian telco Vocus has announced the exit of Group CEO Geoff Horth after two years of service.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Equis Energy gets new CEO</h3>
Renewable energy producer Equis Energy has named Nitin Apte as CEO of the company. The appointment comes more than a month after US infrastructure fund manager Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) completed its $5-billion acquisition of the renewable energy firm.
Apte brings over 25 years of multinational management and operations experience, the Singapore headquartered company said in an announcement on Monday.
Prior to Equis Energy, Apte was President and Chief Executive Officer of Materia, a specialty materials company where he forged new strategic partnerships and helped expand the company&#8217;s manufacturing footprint.
Before Materia, he worked for over 25 years at SABIC and General Electric in assignments spanning P&amp;L Leadership, Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain, Six Sigma, Manufacturing and Product Management.
Equis Energy maintains a portfolio of more than 180 renewable energy assets comprising 11,135 MW in operation, construction and development across Asia-Pacific including Australia, Japan, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Australian telco Vocus CEO Geoff Horth exits</h3>
Australian telco Vocus has announced the exit of Group CEO Geoff Horth after two years of service. The parting of ways was done &#8220;by mutual agreement&#8221;, Vocus said in its filing to ASX.
Horth served as Vocus Group CEO since February 2016, when the merger between Vocus Communications and M2 Group was completed. Prior to joining Vocus, Horth served as M2 Group CEO for nearly five years, Vocus said in the exchange filing.
&#8220;The Board and Horth have been engaged in CEO succession considerations since earlier this year, as part of the Company’s previously stated program of renewal at both Board and executive levels. Both parties have now agreed that this process should be brought forward,&#8221; the company said.
The role of Interim Group CEO will be assumed by Michael Simmons, Vocus’ current Chief Executive of its Wholesale &amp; International Division, and previous Chief Executive of the (former) Vocus Enterprise &amp; Wholesale division. In addition to other senior executive roles in the telecoms and media sectors, Michael was the founding CEO/MD at SP Telemedia, now TPG Telecom.
Michael will retain oversight of the Wholesale &amp; International division whilst performing the Interim Group CEO role and will be supported in this role by the other divisional Chief Executives and members of the Executive Team.
Vocus Group Chairman, Vaughan Bowen said of Horth’s departure, “Geoff has served as Vocus CEO during undoubtedly the most challenging chapter in its journey to date.&#8221;
