Private markets investment management firm Adams Street Partners has launched its Asia Advisory Council to support the growth, innovation, and long-term success of the firm’s Asian operations.

The council comprises five industry leaders and will provide global perspectives, regional market insights and strategic guidance to senior Adams Street personnel across Asia. It will also help the firm refine and scale its regional strategy and strengthen its connections across the industry.

Its members are

  • Dr Greg Brown, founder and research director of the Institute for Private Capital and a leading researcher in alternative investments;
  • Eugene Choung, co-founder and managing partner of Emerald Hill Capital Partners and former director of private equity at the University of Chicago Endowment;
  • Stephen Mitchell, an investment management professional with more than 40 years of experience across equities, fixed income, private banking and private markets, including at JPMorgan;
  • Simon Pillar, co-founder and chairman of the Executive and Operating Committees at Pacific Equity Partners, which has $19 billion in AUM; and
  • Eugene Wong, former managing director and member of the Global Leadership Group at GIC, where he held senior roles across private equity and credit until his retirement in 2024.

Adams Street has been an early and consistent investor in Asia for more than two decades, deploying over $7.5 billion across the region, with more than $5 billion realised to date.

The firm maintains deep, long-standing relationships with more than 500 general partners globally and continues to see strong momentum across its Asia business, including an annual deployment pace of approximately $500 million and a growing base of institutional investors throughout the region.

“Asia has been, and will continue to be, a critical pillar of Adams Street’s global platform,” said Sunil Mishra, Partner, Primary Investments. “We believe the launch of the Asia Advisory Council enhances our ability to deepen market intelligence, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, and further advance how we serve clients and partners across the region. We look forward to working with the Asia Advisory Council members as we continue to grow our presence in the Asian markets.”
