Apis Partners sees growth-equity funding gap in Asian fintech space

From digital payments to technology-enabled insurance services, the opportunity in financial services in Asia is significant for growth equity funds, says Udayan Goyal, managing partner and co-founder of private equity firm Apis Partners.

In an interview with DealStreetAsia, Goyal pointed out that growth equity funding in the sector is lacking. “In many markets that is probably the hardest capital to get for most of these companies,” he says. “There tends to be quite a lot of early-stage capital, particularly in Asia, and there tends to be a lot of very late-stage capital in private equity capital, but this intersection is hard.”
