Cyrus Driver
Managing Director, Head Private Equity Asia, Partners Group
Partners Group, which manages $66 billion in assets globally, has $35 billion in assets as private equity investments. Its assets under management in Asia Pacific and emerging markets in 2016 were about 17 per cent. “In 2016, we deployed more in Asia-Pacific than we had in all the previous years combined. In 2017, we have invested more than we did in 2016. Without a doubt, the Asian market is getting deeper, and hence the proportion of deployment in Asia will rise over time,” Driver told DEALSTREETASIA in a <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/partners-group-cyrus-driver-1b-invested-india-80613/">recent interaction</a>.
Driver was instrumental in setting up Partners Group&#8217;s India office in 2014 and today leads private equity operations in Asia Pacific for the firm from his base in Singapore. The firm has invested close to $1 billion in India already and plans to invest a similar amount over the next 3-4 years.

TAEL Partners positions itself as the private equity partner to ASEAN family controlled businesses. With offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, its funds include the $551-million TAEL One closed in 2010 and the $700-million TAEL Two closed in 2014.
Mei Yin has over 20 years’ experience working with a diverse range of business groups in Malaysia and Thailand and spearheads TAEL&#8217;s investments in these two countries. She also initiated the launch of TAEL Tijari, the firm&#8217;s Shari’ah compliant fund, in 2011. Total commitments raised to-date under the TAEL Tijari platform amount to $90 million. The platform co-invests with TAEL One and Two.

Tai Lin
Managing Director, Proterra Investment Partners
Proterra was spun out of Black River Asset Management, a division of Cargill, early last year. The PE fund manager and investment advisor today manages about $2.5 billion in committed capital.
Lin directs Proterra’s food production, value-added processing, and distribution investments in China. Prior to Proterra, he served as a Managing Director for Black River Asset Management where he focused on food sector investments.

Chairman, EQT Asia Pacific
EQT Partners, which has raised 24 funds and raised $43.6 billion since it was formed in 1994, has ramped up its activities in Asia Pacific in the last four years, deploying almost $200 million each year in the mid-market control and co-control space.
The EQT Mid Market Asia investment strategy has deployed more than $780 million (including co-investments) between Dec 2013 and Aug 2017 across Greater China, SEA and Australia in eight transactions. The firm is now also branching out to other parts of Southeast Asia such as Malaysia and Vietnam; it made an investment in Vietnam’s English Language Training (ELT) company ILA Vietnam earlier this month.

Chairman and CEO, EXS Capital
EXS Capital Group is an independent investment firm founded in 2007 that specialises in building private equity real estate platforms on a direct deal-by-deal basis, with a strong track record across Asia. One of EXS’s showcase transactions to date has been the 2013 investment into Son Kim Land, an up-and-coming Vietnamese real estate development company.
Eric has been involved in the Asian private equity industry since 1991. Prior to EXS, he was Partner and Head of Japan at CVCI Asia, Citigroup’s proprietary private equity group, where he led investments resulting in the founding of Shui On Land and Asia Broadcast Satellite.
Prior to CVCI, Eric founded and ran the Strategic Capital Group, a private equity advisory boutique, where he advised Harbin Brewery, eventually sold to Anheuser-Busch for $800 million.
